A weekend of match-ups as I like to say.
Some great performers on strong teams are going against some tough
teams. Moss against Philly, Patriots vs. Pittsburgh, etc. This
might mean you might need to potentially play 2nd string people or look
for those that had good 2nd week performances and might hit a home run in
the 3rd week.
Below are up and comers to maybe play or pick up as free agents in 8
man leagues. In 10 man leagues they are probably gone. Some
other observations too...
1) Travis Taylor - (WR - Vikings) - was utilized by Caulpepper quite a
bit in week 2 and NO's defense is pass weak. Caulpepper has to throw
to someone given that Burleson is out and Taylor looks to be the man.
Caulpepper and the Vikings can't continue to make mistakes at this
staggering pace through week 3, can they?
2) Dante Stallworth (WR - Saints) - Minnesota's D isn't good and
Stallworth is quickly emerging as a pick to go to. He could have an
amazing week 3 performance.
3) Marcus Shipp (RB - Cardinals) - Likely going to be the starter,
taking over for J.J. Arrington
4) Curtis Martin (RB - Jets) isn't missing a game. NO WAY
JOSE. However, he is playing against a Jags defense that has been
amazing, holding Peyton Manning to his lowest career stats last
week. His numbers likely won't be strong this weekend.
5) L.J. Smith (TE - Eagles) - Should have a good performane vs. Oakland
and all the attention that T.O. should get.
6) Chicago - Look for them to show how weak the Bengals are vs. the
run. Last week was a blowout vs. Min but Bennett had many 10-20 yard
runs vs. the Bengals early on. Jones could have another great
game. Additionally, their D might have a great game as Palmer is
still forcing the ball quite a bit and Chicago plays aggressive D and
wants to score on their turnovers.
7) Chris Perry (RB - Bengals) - Had an 86 yard run called back due to
holding (not near play). He has really been breaking out.
While he won't take over Rudi's position I think the coaches are really
going to utilize him more this week with screens, maybe two men in the
back, some reverses, etc? Big playmaking capabilities here...and
likely sitting there to be taken up after week 3 in many leagues.
